You know the feeling. The radiator is so hot you cannot touch it, the thermostat says 23 degrees, but you are still sitting with a blanket and cold feet. In the bathroom the mirror is fogged, in the bedroom there is black mold behind the wardrobe, and the gas bill just arrived and it is higher than last year. Your house is not cold because you have a weak boiler. Your house is cold because you are heating the wrong thing.

You Don’t Live In The Air, So Why Are You Heating The Air?

A normal heating system heats air. It burns gas, heats water to 70 degrees, pushes it through walls, heats a metal radiator, the radiator heats the air around it. What happens to hot air? Physics is simple. Hot air goes straight up to the ceiling. It stays there. At head level you have 23 degrees, at foot level you have 17 degrees. Your head is too hot, your feet are freezing, and the air is so dry your throat hurts in the morning.

You open a window for 5 minutes to get fresh air and in 5 minutes you have thrown all your expensive hot air outside. The walls remain cold.

Infrared heating does the opposite. An infrared panel does not heat the air. It emits infrared light, the same warm light you feel from the sun in winter. The rays go through the air without heating it and warm up only what they hit: your body, the floor, the table, the walls. It is the same difference as standing in the shade and stepping into the sun. The air temperature is the same, but in the sun you feel instantly warm.

This is why with infrared you feel warm at 20 degrees while with radiators you feel cold at 23 degrees.

The Real Reason You Have Mold

Everyone blames humidity. Nobody blames cold walls. This is the truth that paint companies don’t want you to know.

Mold needs water to live. Where does water come from on a wall? From condensation. When warm humid air from cooking, showering and breathing touches a cold wall, the humidity turns into water droplets on the wall. Just like a cold beer bottle in summer.

Radiators make this worse. They heat the air in the middle of the room, but they leave the corners, the wall behind the sofa and behind the wardrobe ice cold. Those cold spots become wet, and mold grows there.

An infrared panel mounted on the ceiling shines on all four walls at once. It keeps the walls 2 to 3 degrees warmer than the air. If the wall is warmer than the air, condensation can never happen. No water, no mold. Without chemicals, without repainting every year, without ventilation systems. The wall dries by itself in 2-3 weeks and stays dry forever.

Why Ceiling Mounting Is 30% More Efficient

If you put an infrared panel on the wall, you make the same mistake as with a radiator. The sofa, the curtains and the bed block the rays. Half the room stays in shadow.

Put it on the ceiling. From the ceiling one panel sees everything. It warms the floor so you can finally walk barefoot in winter. It warms the bed so you get into a warm bed, not an icy one. It warms all four walls evenly so mold has nowhere to hide. It is invisible, takes zero wall space, and no child can burn themselves on it.

For a 15 square meter bedroom, one 700W panel on the ceiling is enough. With a smart WiFi thermostat it heats the room in 15 minutes and then only works 20 minutes per hour to keep the walls warm. That’s about 0.60 EUR per day for that room.

No Boiler, No Pipes, No Maintenance, No Surprises

Think about what you pay for with gas. The boiler, the pipes in every wall, the radiators, the yearly inspection, the mandatory gas check, the risk that a pipe freezes in your holiday home and floods the neighbor. And every 10 years you buy a new boiler for 2,500 EUR.

An infrared panel is 2 cm thick, weighs 7 kg, has no water, no moving parts, no filter. You fix it with 4 screws. It lasts more than 25 years. If you have a small solar system on the roof, you are heating your house with your own sun.

It’s not just cheaper heating. It’s the first heating system that was actually designed for how humans feel warmth.
